of interest as wayne jackson. although he's used a total of five different aliases and in 2008 he died of natural causes under the name of dan therrien. >> this case is a case that haunts the san francisco police department and the city of san francisco and has pretty much throughout the entire career of everybody that's standing here. >> reporter: new members of the cold case unit had recently been reviewing the case and while reviewing notes on an old interview with jackson, they decided to run a check on his various aliases. they found that he had been arrested in canada for allegedly kidnapping and molesting two 13-year-old boys in canada in 1973. that's what jump-started the investigation and led to a cadaver dog search of jackson's former san francisco residence last week, which is blocks away from where kevin collins was last seen in 1984. >> we are releasing a photograph of mr. jackson today along with various names he used throughout his lifetime with the hopes someone will come forward and provide us with additional information on his activities and whereabouts when kevin dis

arrested in canada. >> jackson was wanted under the name raymond williams stewart fr a 1973 incident allegedly kidnapped and sexual assaulted two juveniles he was release and flid the country. he al you'ded arrest because he changed his alias again. the man lived here mostly under the name dan ferian, his name when he died in 2008. kevin vanished in february, 1984 and left basketball practice at the gym and waited for a bus at oak and messonic. a nationwide search ensued. kevin's picture on front of news week and on milk cartons. volunteers scoured the city two. witnesses told police that they saw kevin talking to a man with a dog. the first man said kevin was at the bus stop. the second witness who saw kevin later said the boy was in front of ferian's home.
